CCTV (closed-circuit television) has undoubtedly become an indispensable part of law enforcement and maintaining public order. However, without an effective and dedicated operator CCTV would be of limited use. With this in mind Shield offer an accredited qualification in the use of closed-circuit television (CCTV).
The following modules will be covered during this B TEC level 2, three day course.
Roles and Responsibilities – covering what the roles and responsibilities are and the standards of behaviour.
Codes of Practice, operational procedures and guidelines – covering the aims and purposes of use of the CCTV system.
CCTV equipment and operation – covering how the CCTV system works and the producing, recording and storing of images for evidential purposes.
Control Room Communications – covering radio procedure and dealing with complaints.
Legislation – Covering all current legislation pertaining to the use of CCTV, giving statements and attending court.
Dealing with incidents – covering how to deal with aspects of criminal behaviour.
Surveillance Techniques – covering surveillance planning and targeting, gathering best evidence and effective observation skills.
Emergency Procedures in Control Rooms – covering telephone bomb warnings, receipt of a bomb threat and evacuation procedures.
Health and Safety at Work – covering the Health and Safety legislation applicable to the CCTV operator and work environment.
At the conclusion of the course there is an assessment by way of two multiple choice test papers and a basic practical assessment.
